A Word With Us is passionate about providing tailored, practical workshops that provide educators with tools they can implement the following day. We present the way we teach in order to model what students need. Fostering Collaboration between Intervention and Content Teachers is a workshop grounded in practice and experience. It is designed to cultivate collaboration between classroom and intervention (EL, SpEd, HAL, etc.) teachers. Please see the objectives and description below.
Create a foundation for collaboration
Establish open communication
Implement classroom intervention and differentiation
Understand when and how to “push-in” based on student need.
Utilize work time to establish collaboration within your context
The relationship between classroom teachers and interventionists should be just that, a relationship. Students benefit from educators collaborating to combine their areas of expertise in order to provide integrated intervention and support. This workshop was created by a content teacher and an EL teacher who have extensive experience in co teaching, pushing-in, and implementing classroom interventions. Educators attending this workshop will be equipped with tools to implement ongoing, effective collaboration that is based on student need and sharing responsibility. Educators are encouraged to attend with the classroom or intervention teacher that they will be collaborating with in the next year. Teachers will have supported work time to communicate, plan lessons based on student need, and create systems for intentional collaboration throughout the year.
