Description | | Morning Keynote Speaker:
Angee Stevens, LCSW, has captivated audiences from all walks of life through the
vulnerability of sharing her lived experiences. Angee’s unique ability to merge
humor with tragedy takes you on a journey of what it was like growing up with a
mother diagnosed with Schizo-Affective Disorder and witnessing her mother’s
erratic and unpredictable behaviors. You are invited to hear her story of resilience
and strength as she shares how her mother's mental health challenges impacted
the way she learned to navigate systems of support, including education, from
early childhood until now. You will laugh. You will cry. Heck, you might even cry
from laughter. More importantly, you will walk away with simple strategies that
inspire confidence in who you are and promote a renewed awareness of the shared
humanity connecting us all.
Session Objectives:
1. To reframe mental health: what my mom taught me about mental illness.
2. To improve the quality of interpersonal interactions by understanding the power
and influence behind one's own behavior through honest and authentic
interactions.
3. To empower helping professionals to move beyond the current disease and
welfare model established within existing systems of care.
4. To remind each and every person of how truly amazing they are.
Afternoon Learning:
-School and Community Agency Networking Lunch
-Community Agency and School Showcase highlighting the continuum of services through
an MTSS lens
-Youth Panel
Bring your school spirit and enjoy tailgate themed activities and goodies
while you expand your school mental health playbook and are inspired to
tackle the new school year!
