DescriptionTeaching Functional Life Skills using the Assessment of Functional Life Skills (AFLS) and Increasing Independence in the Natural Environment Training

Presenter: Deb Rauner M.Ed, B.S., ASD Consultant, Behavior Specialist, and Verbal Behavior/AFLS Trainer

Audience This workshop is for Upper Elementary, Middle School, High School, Resource Teachers, SLPs, Counselors, Psychologists,Transition Teachers/Staff, and Parents of students who would benefit from life skills instruction.

Description:  This introductory workshop will provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools to analyze and track a learner's functional living skills and develop an individualized intervention program to help a learner become less dependent upon assistance from others. We will review the content of the six AFLS protocols and strategies to help individuals learn the skills that are essential for independent functioning. Every participant will receive one AFLS protocol to begin intervention. In addition, we will review several strategies that work on teaching and generalization of skills in the natural environment, and show how you can include these strategies in your student’s individual program.
