How will I know if a workshop is cancelled due to weather?
Listen to your local TV stations, check the ESU #3 web page (www.esu3.org) or call 597-4800 for a recorded message.
Can I be billed for a workshop fee or pay with a credit card?
Individuals cannot be billed for workshops and we are unable to process credit cards.
How are payments made for workshops?
Districts are billed for associated staff.
Can I cancel a registration for a workshop?
Cancellations will be accepted up to three business days before the workshop begins. Cancellations not received three business days in advance and "No-Shows" will be billed.
Can I participate if I am not affiliated with an ESU #3 school?
Registration is opened to the public. However, non-ESU #3 schools will be notified no later than three business days prior to the date of the workshop if there is no space available.

| Description | | The mathematics classroom is driven by the interaction of three components: teaching, curriculum, and assessment. In this workshop, we will examine the roles of curriculum (including choices a school or teacher makes in terms of scope of content, sequencing of topics, and lesson choices) and assessment (how a teacher measures student progress and uses it for planning) and how decisions on these components affect the teaching and learning process. Examples will include discussion of how tools and technology can be used effectively in mathematics lessons and how choices made by educators can affect access and equity in the secondary mathematics classroom.
The session will be presented by Daniel J. Brahier, professor of mathematics education at Bowling Green State University in Ohio as well as a middle school mathematics teacher. He has been a high school teacher of mathematics and science, an administrator, a guidance counselor, and a curriculum consultant during his career. Brahier is also the author of several books, including being part of the writing team for NCTM’s book Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All. The primary purpose of Principles to Actions is to fill the gap between the adoption of our new standards and the enactment of practices and actions required for successful implementation of those standards.
