Description

Weebly web designer is the format for students entering National History Day web page entries for 2017.  ESU #3 HAL and tech resources want to support teachers and students in their effort for student entry into the national contest.

This full day workshop will include teachers and students.  Participants will be introduced to the tools of Weebly, and have time to practice using the design format tools.  The History Theme for 2012 is available at ww.nhd.org. Student web page entries will use the theme to develop the content of their web page entry.

Prior to attending the ESU #3 workshop students will need to complete several tasks in order to attend:

1.       Visit the National History Day web site and read thoroughly the guidelines, theme book, and sample entries.

2.       Read the NHD Rule Book about web page entries (see attached documents).

3.       Decide on a topic or topics that students want to use for an entry and for research.

4.       Once a topic is decided, bring to the workshop the following items on a flash drive:

a.       a document of a minimum of 150 words (not to exceed 300 words) that describes the topic as though it were an introduction to a web page or book.

b.      a minimum of 5 images that help tell the story of the topic  and the web page reference that will be included in a source page.

c.       a minimum of one .mov file (movie file) that will be included in the web page and the web page reference that will be included in a source page.

d.      a list within a word processing document of at least ten web sites that include information about the topic.

The day at ESU #3 will use Weebly design tools and student content that is brought to the workshop.  The content on the flash drive is the prerequisite to attend.  Students in grades 6 -12 are invited along with a teacher sponsor.

Post-workshop support from ESU #3 HAL and tech services will be available to teachers that attend.

Please read the above requirements carefully – these are items that students need to prepare in advance of attending on October 5, 2016
