Description

“A good book should leave you... slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading it.” ~William Styron

NEW this year, ESU#3 is offering HAL students the opportunity to compete in an area-wide reading competition designed to challenge great readers for 3 consecutive years. This second and third year, 5th & 6th grade level competition offers a 20 book reading list which includes a  challenging combination of classics, historical fiction, and books kids just shouldn’t miss reading  at some point in their life. There are two 5th & 6th grade book lists that will rotate on even and odd years so that participants will have exposure to 40 great books during their 2 years of participation. After reading and practicing with HAL coordinators throughout the year, students will travel to ESU#3 in May to compete on a team made up of 4 individuals. Comprehension questions will be asked that require students to answer with the title of the book and the author’s name.

Battle of the Books is all about READING....reading lots of great books and having fun doing it!

(See participant guidelines for all competition details and the attached even year 5th & 6th grade booklist to get started!)
