Using science phenomena to pique students' curiosity and sense of wonder is an important part of being an effective science teacher. Engaging students in making sense of phenomena supports students' curiosity about the world. Curiosity can lead to increased student interest in a science, development of students' identity with science and science careers.

This session will focus on how secondary educators can use science phenomena to engage students in three-dimensional science performances to learning science consistent with the new Nebraska College and Career Ready Standards for Science. Teachers engage in investigations of science phenomena as effective instruction is modeled. Participants will receive a set of lessons aligned to the science standards for their grade-level and subject.

All participants will receive a copy of the book Teaching Science is Phenomenal.
