This workshop focuses on social-emotional development and student success. This workshop will:
1. Identify key skills, such as self-regulation and social skills that are linked to children’s academic achievement and positive behavior in school.
2. Describe how those skills grow and change throughout early childhood and the elementary school years.
3. Highlight recent research that investigates the impact of poverty, stress, and trauma on brain development and on the development of social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
4. Provide participants with examples of concrete, classroom- and school-based routines, strategies, and practices that have been shown to promote children’s social and emotional development and academic success.
Each day of the 2-day workshop will include knowledge building about the field of SEL, opportunities to practice and work with SEL strategies, and planning time for participants. |
