ESU 3 will host the Battle of the Books! Battle of the Books is all about READING…..and having fun while doing it.


Dates

May 16th, 2022 - Battle of the Books (Elementary Grades 4-5-6)

May 17th, 2022 - Battle of the Books (Middle School Grades 6-7-8)


Participating schools may register as many teams as they would like for the competition. Each team can have up to six members. When registering, please note, if your 6th grade is part of the elementary school system in your district, please register them for the elementary Battle of the Books (Grades 4-5-6) on May 16th. If your 6th grade is part of the middle school system, please register them for the middle school Battle of the Books (Grades 6-7-8) on May 17th.


This contest is a mix of comprehension book knowledge along with project based activities specific to the books. Students are not required to read all ten books, but instead the reading can be spread out amongst the team members. Here is a link to the booklist.

10:00-10:30 am - Quick Challenge

10:30-11:30 am - Challenge 2

11:30-12:00 pm -Quick Challenge 2

12:00-1:00 pm - Challenge 3/Lunch

1:00-1:30 pm - Quick Challenge 3

1:30-2:00 pm - Awards


Note: Participating schools will purchase their own books for competition preparation.


Coaches: Battle of the Books will require a coach from each school to be a judge during the competition. 


Lunch: This is a brown-bag lunch event. Students and coaches will need to bring their own lunch - refrigerators are not available.


Photo Disclaimer: By registering for this event, I acknowledge that Educational Service Unit 3 may be taking photographs or videos, and my likeness (and the likeness of my students) may be shown online through the ESU 3 website and social media outlets. A photo release statement for students will be sent to teachers prior to the event.
