Please note that if you register and do not attend, or your cancellation is not received three business days in advance, you are still liable for full payment.

FAQ
How will I know if a workshop is cancelled due to weather?
Listen to your local TV stations, check the ESU #3 web page (www.esu3.org) or call 597-4800 for a recorded message.
Can I be billed for a workshop fee or pay with a credit card?
Individuals cannot be billed for workshops and we are unable to process credit cards.
How are payments made for workshops?
Districts are billed for associated staff.
Can I cancel a registration for a workshop?
Cancellations will be accepted up to three business days before the workshop begins. Cancellations not received three business days in advance and "No-Shows" will be billed.
Can I participate if I am not affiliated with an ESU #3 school?
Registration is opened to the public. However, non-ESU #3 schools will be notified no later than three business days prior to the date of the workshop if there is no space available.

Description
Do you have students who are challenged by the texts that they encounter in their academic classes? Oftentimes, our teenage students can decode texts, but they are unable to comprehend the deep and complex meanings. Join Dr. McKnight, renowned adolescent literacy expert, in this 1-day professional development session. We will explore research-based, classroom-tested strategies for engaging students in rigorous texts and learn how to develop a classroom environment that supports reading in the content area classroom.
A light breakfast, lunch, and snack will be provided.
