Description | | Communication Across the Day for Complex Learners Utilizing AAC
NOTE: This is a zoom Virtual Training, Presented Live/Synchronous via Zoom

Description:
Communication is always happening in this social world we live in! It is one of the most important ways to improve student outcomes; build contextually appropriate behaviors, increase social interactions, allow for more inclusion and improve upon overall academics.
In this training we’ll take a look at building in communicative opportunities across the student’s day. Whatever mode of communication or Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC): a dedicated device, picture exchange, sign language, or vocal there are always opportunities for modeling, interacting, and building language. Making a plan to create an inclusive environment and how opportunities can be incorporated into the day helps the team to be on the same page, understanding their role in supporting the opportunities. Building functional communication leads to the student’s growth and success across activities, environments and communication partners.
Teams are encouraged to come with a complex learner in mind, to build a robust plan for communication growth.
