Workshop Information- History, Thaumatropes, Zoetropes, Flip Books, Stop Motion Animation
This unit is designed to help students understand the progression of animation as an art form. Students will learn about the history of animation. They will find out about persistence of vision, and they will make their own thaumatropes to see how this works. Then they will design their own strips to put into zoetropes. Finally, they will plan and draw their own flipbooks. Adding technology to the process, students can use stop motion animation to create simple short films.
