Description

Please join us for a rare opportunity to better understand what it might be like to live in a typical low budget family trying to survive from month to month.

Approximately 45.3 million people live in poverty every day (19.9% are under 18 years old).  Many more live just above the poverty line, but their incomes are still low enough to qualify for government programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and housing assistance.  It is difficult for those who have never lived with the frustrations and stress of not knowing when your next meal will come, to truly understand the situation low budget families face.

The experience is divided into four 15-minute sessions.  Each session represents one week in which families must provide basic necessities and shelter.  This is not a game!  The poverty Simulation experience brings awareness and understanding to the world of poverty.  It’s a reality for many people of all ages in our community.  Take the poverty challenge learn what it’s like to live in poverty.

A light breakfast will be served.
