DescriptionNebraska Shakespeare Presents
Shakespeare on Tour, Fall 2021
Romeo and Juliet
Directed by Tyrone Beasley

As we enter a new year and hopefully say goodbye to Covid 19, there remain many questions and concerns confronting our country. One of Shakespeare’s greatest gifts was to provide themes that withstand the test of time and at Nebraska Shakespeare we can think of no play that better defines our current landscape of seeking love and compassion in a country divided by ideology and racial tensions than Romeo and Juliet. This coming fall, we are excited to inform you that we will once again provide live theatre and educational workshops to the schools and rural communities throughout Nebraska. To celebrate a return to normalcy, we are currently adapting a shortened version of Romeo and Juliet that combines Shakespeare’s words with a modern interpretation featuring a hip-hop style of delivery and a multi-ethnic cast of actor/educators.
