Description
In this full day workshop hosted at Henry Doorly Zoo’s Aquarium Conference Center (3701 S. 10th Street), you will learn practical strategies for learning in science and linking assessment to instruction.  You will learn how to:
  • build a repertoire of techniques to elicit students’ ideas
  • solidify conceptual understanding and foster productive science discussions
  • apply the techniques in other content areas
  • design learning opportunities that will deepen students’ mastery of content

Page Keeley’s books (Science Formative Assessment Volume 1 and Volume 2) will be available for purchase the day of the event using a personal check, a district check, or a district purchase order. For this workshop, we were able to secure a deep discount for the books.  Purchase prices are as follows:
  • $29.95: Science Formative Assessment (Vol. 1)
  • $27.95: Science Formative Assessment (Vol. 2)
  • $54.95: both books (Volume 1 and 2)
The books provide formative assessment strategies that can be used the day you return to the classroom.  There will be no handouts for this workshop as most content comes from these books.  A survey will be sent out to registrants prior to the event inquiring about their plans to purchase materials.
