DescriptionCourse Description/Target Audience:
The target audience for Trait Based Writing is educators unfamiliar with, or only slightly familiar with the traits of effective written communication. Educators with knowledge and experience with trait-based writing may take Trait Based Writing as a refresher course. This course is a combination of face to face and online.

Course Objectives:
• Understand and use the vocabulary specific to trait-based writing
• Use trait-based writing guides to assess writing for each of the traits (Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions)
• Apply the assessment process for identifying strengths and weaknesses in a written piece.
• Implement tips for effectively teaching the traits to learners.

Course Requirements:
• Active participation
• Completion of daily assignments
• Individual final project
• Participation in online discussion activities

Schedule:
• Face to Face Workshop: June 1 and 26, 2015 8:00am - 12:00pm
• Online Modules: June 1 - June 26, 2015

Cost:
• ESU #3: $35.00
• Non-ESU #3: $45.00
