Description

National Geographic magazine is full of interesting pictures that tell a story.  Now you can create a story with digital photos, videos, and interactive maps.

Students and teachers will create interactive maps that can be quickly and easily tell a story. In this session, teachers and students will gain hands-on training in how to use free software to create interactive story maps.  The software is called ArcGIS Online and is considered a STEM technology. A free ArcGIS Online software site license will be available for participating schools. Student participants at the workshop will be taught how to create and assist their teachers upon returning to their home schools.  This model of instruction for the day will ensure teachers know how to use the software and attending students will be the working partner for future classroom use.

**Schools should send a teacher and up to three students. (Student numbers are not asked during registration but are assumed.)

**Registration spots for 9 teachers and 27 students are available.  Students should be in grades 6-12.

**School district substitute fees (up to $180.00 per participating teacher including benefits) and mileage (mileage at $.54/mile for up to 75 miles roundtrip) for district transportation will be reimbursed by the Nebraska Department of Education. In order for the substitute fees and mileage reimbursement to be paid, the district administrator must sign the NDE contract.  Details from NDE after registration with ESU3.

**Lunch is paid by a grant through the Nebraska Department of Education.

**Software is free.
