Description

This workshop is targeted to School administrators, instructional coaches, dep’t chairs, and other instructional leaders.

Instructional Leadership, at its core, is the practice of ensuring that every child receives high-quality instruction in every class, every period of every day. How do we accomplish this massive task? By creating a System of Reflective Practice, one in which all educators (from superintendents to principals and instructional coaches to department chairs, mentors, and all the way up to classroom teachers) emphasize the key skills and habits of reflective practice. In short, the more reflective we are, the more effective we are. A System of Reflective Practice supports the growth and strengthening of the thinking habits of our teachers – to help them become more aware, to plan and act intentionally, to assess the impact of their actions, and to adapt & adjust as necessary. In this lively and collaborative session, work with former school principal and best-selling author Pete Hall to identify the steps, tools, and strategies necessary to implement the highly effective coaching and feedback approaches discussed in Day 1. This session is related to Pete Hall & Alisa Simeral’s books, “Building Teachers’ Capacity for Success” (ASCD, 2008) and “Teach, Reflect, Learn” (ASCD, 2015).

Participants should bring their copy of "Building Teachers' Capacity for Success".  If you do not have this book, one will be available at sign-in.  The book fee of $25.00 will be added to your registration fee with billing.
