Come for math teaching ideas and leave with a wealth of ready-to-use resources! Join Sue O’Connell in this dynamic one-day workshop, where you will discover ways to help students learn and love mathematics. This workshop is for all teachers of math – those who are math experts and those who may feel as though they are learning math along with their students. Whichever category you associate with, you will be glad you spent the day with Sue!

Participants will:

·         Examine engaging problems that set a context for learning math skills

·         Identify ways to help students make sense of, and solve, math problems

·         Explore ways to help your students learn the words of math and talk more precisely about their math thinking

·         Discover easy math routines that work at all grade levels to get students thinking and talking about big ideas

·         Reflect on simple and fun math investigations that lead to important math discoveries

Each participant will leave with Math in Practice, a comprehensive, grade-level specific resource for teaching mathematics. You will receive the Guide for Teachers which is filled with practical tips, strategies, and insights for teaching K-5 math. In addition, you will receive a grade-level book containing a wealth of math resources specific to your grade level including lessons, formative assessments, centers, and practice tasks related to the varied math content you teach throughout the year. You will also receive online access to an extensive array of grade-level specific resources including tools, templates, recording sheets, center materials, and additional problems that can be quickly downloaded to save you time and enhance your math teaching.
